Tools for Independent Inventors
Do a search for information on how to patent an invention and the response may be overwhelming. Upon the writing of this entry, there were 71 million web page results returned on Google. Some of theses sites are helpful, others are predatory. How is an inventor supposed to know what information is reliable? The U.S.P.T.O’s Office of Innovation Development has a great site set up to give honest and reliable information about patents and trademarks. The link is below.
“The Office of Innovation Development oversees the USPTO’s efforts to assist independent inventors, small business concerns and university affiliated inventors. The office also works closely with other officials and agencies throughout the government in support of the administration’s efforts to promote small business, entrepreneurship, and job creation. The Office of Innovation Development designs and implements outreach programs intended to reach a wide range of groups, including independent inventors, women, small business concerns, minorities, and other underserved communities.”
